SKU rules
A short reference for unique variant identifiers.
An SKU is a human-readable identifier for a specific variant. It helps you search for an item, distinguish variants, and connect data across workflows.
Requirements
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Uniqueness | One SKU per variant within a workspace |
| Maximum length | 80 characters |
| Allowed characters | A–Z, 0–9, period, hyphen, underscore |
| Letter case | Letters are stored in uppercase |
| Spaces | Replaced with a separator |

- You can correct an SKU, but it must remain unique.
- The internal Sklads barcode is a separate immutable field.
- GTIN, EAN, and UPC are not SKUs; Sklads does not invent these codes automatically.
- Do not encode too many changeable properties in an SKU. Keep it readable and stable.
